In What Order Should I Apply My Products?

Why should I follow a certain order when applying my products?

This question comes up all the time and there seems to be some confusion out there.

Here's an easy analogy: Just as you might follow a recipe to make a cake, our team of experts believe there is a preferred order to using your array of skincare products.  We reinforce these instructions on every 843 carton so you'll never be guessing again.

CLEANSE - TREAT - MOISTURIZE

Follow with your favorite SPF

Here's why....

1) CLEANSE

Probably no surprise that starting with clean skin kicks off the whole process.  A gentle yet effective cleanser will prepare and prime your skin.  Easy peasy.

Here's where some people get stumped ... I have alot of products, what the heck should I use next?

2) TREAT

Treatment products are applied next.  At this time, your skin is clean primed and ready to absorb these products easily.  They're usually (but not always) in Serum form and  target a specific concern (other than dryness).  Some examples:

  • PROTECT from environmental damage
  • EVEN OUT skin tone
  • FIRM skin
  • REDUCE APPEARANCE of lines and wrinkles

Should you apply ALL of your treatment products at one time? NO. Please don't do that.  Your skin can only tolerate and absorb so much at one time.  Overuse can cause irritation and can actually diminsh product effectiveness.

A better approach is to choose one treatment product for the AM and a different one your PM routine.  The important reminder here is use these products BEFORE you moisturize.

3) MOISTURIZE

Hydration completes your skincare regimen before applying SPF.  Think of moisturizers as the outermost layer of protection that help "seal in" all the goodies you've just applied to your skin.  The right moisturizer will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth, hydrated - never greasy or "heavy".  Good ones also help replenish hydration since your skin is constantly losing water.  We know a perfect choice, wink wink!
